His practice combines evidence-based surgical expertise with a personalised and compassionate approach to patient care.
He completed a prestigious shoulder fellowship under Professor Pascal Boileau at Nice University Hospital in France, gaining high-volume exposure to complex shoulder procedures, including arthroscopy and advanced reconstructive techniques. To complement his upper limb expertise, he also undertook a lower limb fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, under Professor Deiary Kader, gaining valuable experience in hip and knee arthroplasty and complex lower limb trauma.
In addition to his clinical training, Mr. Fountzoulas holds a postgraduate degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University, equipping him with a strong understanding of biomechanics, implant design, and surgical innovation. He is also a graduate of the BOA Future Leaders Programme, holding a Level 7 CMI Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership, supporting his commitment to NHS leadership, service development, and quality improvement.
He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2017 and is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS).
